THE QUAIL – A Motorsports Gathering.

For fifteen years, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has provided an exclusive experience for motorsports enthusiasts and collectors in Carmel, on the Friday of Monterey Car Week.

The garden party setting on the rolling greens of the Quail Lodge & Golf Club is an ideal venue for guests, attendees and sponsors to enjoy the few hundred select vehicles on display. Many old Pebble Beach hands, many of whom have attended Sunday’s Concours D’Elegance for decades, have commented that today’s Quail captures the spirit of the old Pebble Concours of a decade or more ago.

Tickets are limited, which ensures that this event remains exclusive. The well-attired guests are treated to a gourmet lunch served at the Peninsular Group’s signature culinary pavilions, along with fine wine and specialty cocktails. One tip for potential event attendees – the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction is held in conjunction with the event, and tickets can also be obtained through Bonhams Auction registration.

In addition to main event sponsors Rolex and Bonhams, other manufacturers were also presenting new products from stages lining the lawns, including Alfa Romeo, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley, Pagani, Bugatti, Singer, Spyker, Maserati and Sentient Jet. Champagne was provided by Louis Roederer.

This year’s prizes were presented in fourteen categories. Winner of the Rolex Circle of Champions Best of Show was Bruce Milner, for his 1964 ATS 2500 GTS. Our friend and multiple Concours entrant Bruce Meyer was there rocking a straw Cowboy hat and driving his ’32 Ford hotrod. Basking in the Carmel sunshine, Meyer declared, “This has become one of my favorite car events of the year.”
